Elementary Uniform Policy

Pants must be navy blue in color, hemmed, appropriately sized, and worn at the natural waistline. Cargo pants, pants made from fleece material, sweatpants, etc. are not allowed. Preschool - 2nd grade girls may wear navy blue stretch pants. Pants following these guidelines may be purchased from local vendors or the Dennis Uniform Company. 

Shirts must be solid white shirts of any style and sleeve length with a collar or turtleneck. All shirts must be tucked in. No decorations, logos, writing, t-shirts, undershirts, or tank tops are allowed. T-shirts worn underneath collared shirts must be white. Shirts following these guidelines may be purchased through local vendors or the Dennis Uniform Company.

Navy blue pull-over or cardigan sweaters may be ordered through local vendors or Dennis Uniform Company   Royal blue sweatshirts, navy blue fleece jackets, and navy blue quarter-zip jackets with school logos are available for purchase through the school. Sweatshirts, fleece, and quarter-zips without a school logo are not allowed. A white collared shirt or a turtleneck must be worn under sweaters, sweatshirts, fleece, and quarter-zip jackets.

Navy blue walking shorts and navy blue capris may be worn from the start of school to October 31 and again beginning April 1st through the last day of school. Styles should be the same as uniform pants and worn at the natural waistline. Shorts must be longer than fingertips when arms are extended. Shorts and capris may be purchased through local vendors or the Dennis Uniform Company. 

Optional uniform plaid skirts or jumpers in royal blue plaid are available only through the Dennis Uniform Company. Navy blue skirts/skorts may be purchased through local vendors or the Dennis Uniform Company. Skirts, jumpers, and skorts must extend to the top of the knee (no shorter than 2 inches above the knee). Solid colored black, white, and navy blue leggings and/or stretch pants may be worn with skirts, jumpers, and skorts.

Only tennis shoes (leather or canvas) are allowed. Socks or tights must be worn.

Hair must be a natural color. Extreme haircuts and hair styles are not allowed (per administrative discretion). All students must wear their hair so it is out of their eyes. Boys’ hair length cannot exceed the bottom of the collar, be touching the shoulders, or be worn in a ponytail or bun. An exemption based on race, religion or national origin will be considered for hair length and style. Application for this exemption must take place at the time of initial enrollment. Contact administration for the exemption process.

If worn, belts should be a solid, neutral color. Jewelry should not be excessive. Makeup, body piercings, and visible tattoos are not allowed. Earrings and finger nail polish for boys are not allowed. Boys need to be clean shaven.

Some clothing fringes on violating the intent of the uniform policy. Since we are unable to list all exceptions to the uniform policy, we ask for student and parent cooperation by wearing styles congruent with the intended dress code. Dress down attire must be appropriate and any exceptions to policy must be approved (i.e. theme days for Catholic Schools Week).

Alternative Dress: On specified occasions, students have the option of dressing down or dressing up from the regular dress code. These days will be announced in advance and must be pre-approved. The following regulations apply on these days:

• No offensive writing on the shirts/blouses.
• Shirts/blouses must cover the midriff and shoulders, and must be long enough to be tucked in.
• No tank tops or spaghetti strap shirts.
• No frayed, tattered, or torn clothing.Skirts and dresses must extend to the top of the knee (no shorter than 2 inches above the knee).
• Shorts must be longer than fingertips when arms are extended.
• Socks or tights must be worn.
• Leggings are not allowed to be worn as pants; however, they may be worn under skirts (students in K-2nd grade may wear stretch pants).
• Administrator discretion will be applied to identify appropriate attire.
